Lupus, an autoimmune disorder, is a chronic inflammatory disease that can affect numerous parts of the body, most commonly the skin, blood, joints, and kidneys. Each year over 16,000 Americans develop lupus. It is estimated that the current number of Americans fighting lupus is between 500,000 - 1.5 million. The symbolic color of Lupus Awareness is purple. Our Lupus Awareness Bracelet features 4mm sterling silver beads and 4mm tanzanite Swarovski® crystals. Included is a sterling silver awareness ribbon charm. Also included with this bracelet is a sterling silver butterfly charm. The butterfly has been a symbol of lupus awareness as many sufferers develop a distinctive butterfly-shaped rash that occurs over one's nose and cheeks. Additionally, the butterfly signifies a symbol of hope for those fighting lupus. Ten percent of the proceeds of the sale of these bracelets will be donated to The Lupus Foundation of America*.
