Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Bracelets

Approximately 30,000 Americans are affected with Cystic Fibrosis and over 10 million people are genetic carriers. Caused by a faulty protein, Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease where sufferers produce abnormally thick and sticky mucus that settles in the lungs, thus putting them at risk for fatal lung infections. Sufferers also have difficulty absorbing food nutrients when excessive mucus in the pancreas blocks the bile duct in the liver. In 1965, a young son of a Cystic Fibrosis volunteer mispronounced the words "Cystic Fibrosis" as "65 Roses®" after hearing his mother on the phone working with other organizations to raise funds and awareness. Since then, many children refer to Cystic Fibrosis as "65 Roses®" because it is easier to pronounce. The symbolic color for Cystic Fibrosis is purple. Our Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Bracelet features 4mm sterling silver beads and 4mm tanzanite Swarovski® crystals. Included is a sterling silver awareness ribbon charm and a pewter rosebud charm.
